  • Job Description:Valliant’s Diner is hiring an experienced Short-Order Cook for 2 to 5 days a week. We serve classic diner food to a big crowd of local regulars in Ross Township. When the weekend lunch rush hits, our line gets busy fast, and we need someone who knows their way around a flat-top and can keep tickets moving.We’re looking for a cook who knows how to knock out eggs to order, run the flat-top without getting flustered, and keep food coming out fast and correct.

  • Responsibilities:

    • Run the flat-top and egg stations through breakfast and the weekend lunch rush.

    • Cook diner classics: eggs to order (over-easy, poached, omelets), pancakes, burgers, melts, and daily specials.

    • Read tickets, keep track of timing, and get food out to tables together.

    • Keep the flat-top and station clean, organized, and stocked throughout service.

    • Help keep younger prep cooks moving in the right direction during prep and rushes.

  • Full-time / Part-time / Seasonal: Part-Time or Full-Time (2 to 5 days a week)

  • Base Hourly Pay or Salary Range: $15.00 – $25.00 / hour (top pay for fast, experienced short-order cooks)

  • Tips and Estimated Tip Earnings: N/A

  • Available Shifts: Morning and lunch rush shifts

  • Hours Per Week: 16 – 40 hours (Open 6 AM - 2 PM)

  • Required Days / Availability: Weekend availability is desired and will pay a premium, but is not required.

  • Experience Required: 2+ years working a short-order line, flat-top grill, or diner kitchen.

  • Skills / Certifications Required:

    • Strong egg cookery (over-easy, poached, scrambled, folded omelets).

    • Servsafe certification desired, but not required.

    • Ability to work multiple tickets on the flat-top at once without dropping quality.

    • Solid communication with the window and front-of-house staff.
